The UBC-BCWWA Student Chapter is a non-profit UBC AMS club run by student volunteers. Members include undergraduate and graduate students largely from the Science and Engineering fields. However, they warmly welcome any student enthusiastic about water no matter their background as they recognize the importance of maintaining an interdisciplinary and diverse membership base.
Traditionally, members have been primarily involved with drinking and wastewater, but they are also interested in water quality, treatment, stormwater management, distribution, watershed protection, and conservation, to name but a few of the many ways that the society intersects with water.
UBC BCWWA Student Chapter are affiliated with parent organization, the BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA), which represents over 4,700 members that work in the water industry throughout BC and the Yukon.
From our guiding vision statement, UBC-BCWWA works to meet the following goals:
- Bring together a community of students who share an interest in water
- Connect students with professionals in the water industry
- Communicate academic research and issues to the public and water industry at large
- Facilitate the sharing of knowledge between members
